In 1993, she moved to Germany, where she studied hospitality and business administration and gained experience working in renowned establishments. As solid as her career was, her longing for her home island was always stronger.
In 2010, she returned home and fulfilled her first big dream: she opened the restaurant Fon’ Banana in her family home – well known for authentic Creole cuisine and unforgettable Cape Verdean evenings with live music.
In 2013, Cristina found a new home in the Vila de Chaves complex and welcomed her first guests into two lovingly furnished rooms. Success was not long in coming; other owners began entrusting her with the management of their apartments and villas, and so Vila Cristina grew into what it is today: a collection of unique accommodations, each with the same touch of charm, comfort, and warmth.
In 2015, the next chapter unfolded: Cristina took over the management of a newly built beach bar on Praia de Chaves. This is how the Pérola d’Chaves was born – today one of the island’s most popular meeting spots, where great food, cocktails, and the sound of the ocean create an unforgettable atmosphere.
In 2025, Vila Cristina expanded once again: with the Lagoon Residence at Praia do Estoril in Sal Rei, a second location was added – featuring spacious villas, duplex units, and a penthouse, close to the sea and right in the heart of the island’s capital. A new chapter, the same philosophy.
